Employment Tips – How to Find a Great Job

additional resources

The job market is more competitive than ever. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up. It’s a good idea to make plans for your career goals and actively look for opportunities.

Begin by looking over your resume and profile online on the websites that you use for work (like LinkedIn, Monster and Google Docs), as in addition to entertaining social media sites you visit in your free time (like TikTok or Facebook). Make sure you make these profiles private so that only your current acquaintances and colleagues at work see them.

Update your resume to include any relevant experience in your professional that you’ve acquired over the last few years. Be sure to include any volunteer work you’ve done that is applicable to your chosen field. Attending professional conferences and meetings can help you increase your network.

It’s important to apply to the most jobs you can. Even if you believe you are over-qualified it’s better to take the interview process seriously rather than sitting on the sidelines waiting for your next opportunity.

Make sure to practice good interviewing skills, including keeping eye contact and smiling. Additionally, be sure to be knowledgeable about the field you are interested in, which can impress interviewers and show your enthusiasm for the role. Remember to always be respectful and professional when you are in the interview. The old adage of “Find an occupation you love and you’ll never have to work for a day in your life” remains true, but it’s difficult to find a good fit.
